What Will You Learn
Course 1: Academic Listening and Note-Taking
The first session of this course will allow you to improve your understanding and skills for taking more effective notes. You will understand lectures, discuss courses and give an effective academic presentation.
Course 2: Presentations: Speaking so that People Listen
In this session, you will get tips for making effective speeches in typical American settings. You’ll learn how to communicate American. This experience will make you more confident when you give a speech in an American.
Course 3: Academic Discussions in English
In this course, you will learn about different types of conversations in academic settings that will give a different experience. You will practice and improve your discussion skills in this session.
Course 4: Advanced Speaking and Listening Project
At the end of this course, you will choose an academic topic, to do some research, interview a couple of experts in the field, create visual elements to record a video of the presentation that will help you improve your effective verbal and non-verbal skills.
You will be able to understand and follow a lecture, give an effective academic presentation, take better lecture notes, more confident when you give a speech in an American classroom or on the job, discuss courses with classmates and professors, improve your discussion skills and prepare you for presentations in school or work better after completing this course.
