4. Take Your English Communication Skills to the Next Level
You will:
- Study cultural influences on communication more thoroughly, identify key cultural influences in your own experience, and compare your culture with a different one to identify ways to improve communication and decrease misunderstanding.
- Develop your email accuracy and style and engage in email correspondence with potential employers, clients or investors to set up interviews and/or meetings.
- Practice and Demonstrate fluent and accurate spoken English as you prepare and present a short talk about a personal accomplishment or “Sales Pitch” for a product or service.

The Instructors
Gerry Landers
His M.A degree has proven his strong skill in Applied Linguistics. Gery also has a degree in Spanish and Psychology as a minor before graduating from Georgia State University. His experience in teaching was three years as a teacher in Gwinnett County Public Schools before lecturing at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama. When he decided to go back to Atlanta, he was teaching two ESL schools before finally lecturing at Georgia Institute of Technology up to now.
Amalia B. Stephens
This former business writer has been teaching at Georgia Tech for seven years with her M.A.T degree from Emory University. Previously, she was teaching English in several other countries like Egypt, the Central African Republic, and so forth. She once also taught at the Fulton County Georgia Public School System.
Karen Peterson
Her major experience was teaching ESL in Japan and Tajikistan and other countries in the world after receiving her Georgia State’s master’s degree in Applied Linguistics in 1993. She was once also teaching the Intensive ESL for Chinese students for the summer program.
