English Grammar is not easy. In this course you will learn tricky English grammar topics that many of us often find frustrating. You will also learn perfect verb tenses and adjective clauses.

This course is Intermediate level.

It takes around 5 months to complete if you learn it for 6 hours/week. However, the schedule and the pace is flexible.

What You Will Learn

1.     Perfect Tenses and Modals

This first course teaches essential intermediate verb tenses like including present perfect, present perfect progressive, past perfect, and past perfect progressive, along with modal verbs. Learners with basic English can easily follow this course for improving their skills in speaking or writing for academic purposes and also daily use. The class offers video lectures which are very entertaining and informative.

2.     Adjective and Adjective Clauses 

Intermediate learners have to learn this topic, because they are used widely in academic writing and business English related tasks like presentations and proposals.

3.     Tricky English Grammar

The ability to use tricky English grammar represents the’ speaker’s ability to speak intermediate English. Here, students can learn a lot about this.

4.     Intermediate Grammar Project 

The course can help students in understanding the more complex English grammatical structures by using any multi-media tools such as video, e-book, and other media based on learners’ choice.

Instructors

Tamy Chapman 

Her ESL teaching certificate was from UCI as she already taught ESL in 1996 on several teacher-training classes in a related subject. Besides teaching classes for students, she once also taught ESL for the Peace Corps in China. She got her master’s degree in English from Texas Tech University.

Emily Wong M.A.

Her teaching experience includes teaching ESL/EFL in the US and Japan, including two-year teaching junior high school and elementary school students in Mie Prefecture, with the JET Program. Getting her Master’s degree in TESOL at Teachers College in New York City, she also taught adults at Kaplan International Programs. During the past four years, she has been a regular presenter at TESOL state and regional conferences.

Judy Hu 

She holds a Cambridge Certificate in the English Language to Adults, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology/Business beside her Master’s degree in Education. She has been teaching English on three continents with teenagers and adults. She also has the certificate of TOEIC, TOEFL, and GRE. She is currently an active member of the California Association of Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages.

Brad Gilpin

He has been teaching more than 20 courses at UCI with almost one million learners, both online and on-ground classes.

Helen Nam

While she holds a TESOL master’s degree, she also has a similar degree in Philosophy, from Biola University with her BA, and Philosophy, from UCLA. She is now a full-time teacher with International Programs at UCI with on-ground and online ESL and teacher training courses.
