Nowadays, Mandarin is one of the most spoken languages in the world.

This online course by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, one of the best universities in China and also in the world, will teach everything you need to know as a beginner. It can also prepare you for HSK level 1 and 2 (HSK can be used for entry to Chinese universities or to get a job in China).

What Will You Learn

Course 1: Mandarin Chinese 1

In the course, you will build a fundamental capability of oral Chinese in real-life situations through short plays, lectures, interactive exercises, and cultural tips.

Course 2: Mandarin Chinese 2

Continuing Mandarin Chinese 1, you will expand further your Mandarin vocabulary and oral Chinese in real-life situations through lecturers, short plays, interactive exercises and cultural tips. You will learn another 300 words.

Course 3: Mandarin Chinese 3

It still uses lectures, short plays, interactive exercises and cultural tips but in a deeper way. You will have 500 words, 60 language points and handling 15 real-life situations skills with this class.

Course 4: Learn Mandarin Chinese: Capstone Project

You have continued you’re studied before in this course. You will learn about complete a few tasks of using Chinese languages and guidance on taking and passing HSK (Chinese proficiency test) for the threshold of intermediate Chinese proficiency.

After completing this course, you will be able to pass HSK (the only official proficiency test of Chinese language) level 1 or 2 and build a fundamental capability of oral Chinese in a real-life situation by 1000 words, 75 language points, and handling 30 real-life situations skills.

Duration

Each course takes around 5 weeks to complete. The whole specialization will take 15 weeks in total.

Wang Jun

Wang Jun is a vice-director of the Institute of Chinese Language and associate professor of linguistics at the School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University with great teaching skills. He has a Bachelor of Arts and a Doctorate from East China Normal University.

An Na

An Na has a doctorate degree in Literature Focused on Applied Linguistics at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. She does extensive research for Chinese Business teaching materials and US Business teaching materials.
