ACG Parnell College is very pleased to offer this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to study in a world-class
international school based in the heart of Auckland City. During the four-week programme, students will
experience real ‘Kiwi’ school life, while they live with one of our friendly homestay families. To ensure they
complete their experience with unforgettable memories, the students will embark on a weekend trip to some of
New Zealand’s most famous tourist attractions, including Hobbiton and the Waitomo caves.

Classroom environment
ACG Parnell College’s outstanding academic record comes from their experienced, engaging teaching staff and the
peaceful learning environment. Study tour students will enjoy their time learning at ACG Parnell College, and gain skills and knowledge that will stay with them for life.
• Classes will consist of both English language classes and mainstream classes.
• The school day lasts from 8.30am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday.
• Students will be taught at New Zealand Years 8 to 11 depending on their age and English level.
If a student’s English level is IELTS 4.5 or lower then they will be taught in a group with other Study Tour students, while students with English at IELTS 5.0 and higher can expect to be more mainstreamed.
Tour participants are eligible for a $2000 tuition fee scholarship if they enrol in a one-year programme of study from Years 9 to 13 during 2018 and 2019.*

Activities
Weekend tour including Hobbiton
The highlight of the tour programme is an overnight trip on the 11th and 12th of August. Students will tour one of New Zealand’s most iconic regions, Rotorua, and see many of the attractions that has made it world-famous, including the spectacular Skyline gondolas and the Te Puia thermal hot springs. At Hobbiton, students will be given the once in a lifetime opportunity to see an iconic movie set in its full glory; from wandering the rambling paths of The Shire, to seeing the submerged Hobbit Holes that litter the rolling hillsides. The trip concludes with a guided tour of the incredible Waitomo glowworm caves. All expenses for this trip are included in the programme cost, including travel, accommodation, entry fees, supervision and meals.
Accommodation
ACG sources homestay families throughout New Zealand and thoroughly vets them to ensure students receive the best possible accommodation during their stay. Students will be placed either individually or in pairs with a host family unless otherwise requested.
ACG Homestay accommodation includes:
• Breakfast and an evening meal Monday to Friday
• Three meals on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays
Healthy, delicious lunches will be arranged from the ACG Parnell College cafeteria on school days. $15 NZD per day is included in the tour price to cover this.
We will attempt to find families close to the college to enable students to walk to the college, but this cannot be guaranteed. Students should allow a minimum of $50 NZD per week to cover the cost of transport to and from school using public transport. If a student has reasonable reasons for wanting to change homestay, a three day notice period will apply, and there will be a change fee of $100 NZD
Airport transfers
An ACG transfer person will meet students as they arrive at the airport. ACG takes care of transportation from the airport to each student’s homestay location, and back again upon departure. ACG will also provide assistance with departure procedures at the airport.
